Jen Nichols
Master Trainer
Jen Nichols is comprehensively trained through Polestar Pilates Education, an internationally recognized program focused on whole body wellness, healing through movement and mind-body-spirit connection. With a background in dance and a deep understanding of movement, Jen designs her classes to promote strength, flexibility and balance while emphasizing proper form and technique.
After having her first son, Jen decided it was time to follow her passion for teaching. Jen’s love of Pilates grew out of her love of dance, as they share many of the same principles of movement. Her journey began at Pilates Performance and Rehab in 2007, where she taught reformer, mixed apparatus, mat and yoga. After several years and following the birth of two more babies, she decided to take time off to focus on her family. Time has flown and now her oldest is off to KU, and with her younger chicks not far behind, she has decided to return to PPR to continue her teaching career.
Jen’s passion is to bring out the potential in every student by building strength, confidence and pride in oneself. She is most gratified when her students tell her how they have applied their newfound strength, balance and mindfulness in everyday life.

Tammy Peterson
Master Trainer
Tammy graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1991. She is comprehensively trained in Polestar Pilates. She also holds certificates in Pilates Mat, Yoga & CoreAlign 1.
In 2008-2009 I had certifications in many areas including a Neta certified personal trainer. I was teaching classes at 2 local fitness centers and was in a black belt prep class and playing quite a bit of tennis. Due to all the overtraining and overuse, I tore the ACL in my left knee. Because of this injury I had to stop teaching Zumba, stop competing in tennis and Tae Kwando. After my knee surgery I was able to teach mat Pilates and Yoga and swim.
While driving home and passing by Pilates Performance and Rehab many times, I finally went in one day to check it out. I met Desima and she encouraged me, since I had previously participated in 2 Balanced Body Mat certifications, to start teaching a Pilates mat class. She also gave me the information about Comprehensive Polestar Pilates equipment certification classes in KC. I signed up and completed the training. I began teaching at Pilates Performance & Rehab and really enjoyed it. Then in 2020 I took the CoreAlign1 training at PPR. Now, after taking some time off with my grandkids it’s a great time to return to PPR.
I feel Pilates if a wonderful way to nourish our bodies while incorporating balance, stretching, and movement with our breath. Finding imbalances with unilateral work is so beneficial to make us stronger.
My husband and I have 4 grown kids together, 3 daughters-in-law, a grand daughter and a grandson. We enjoy time with family and our pets. We have 2 shelties and a cat. In our free time we walk our dogs, cycle, and swim.
